The Wisconsin Foundation for Independent Colleges (WFIC) was established in 1954 to provide financial support to Wisconsin’s independent colleges. WFIC is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is governed by a board of directors comprised of five college presidents and four business executives. Since its inception, WFIC has raised over $55 million for Wisconsin students and colleges.
WFIC's mission is to build a pipeline of talent for Wisconsin.
WFIC partners with each of Wisconsin’s 20 independent colleges, Wisconsin companies, nonprofits, youth serving organizations, and school partners. The WFIC model is designed to produce Wisconsin’s future leaders, committed citizens, and dedicated professionals.
WFIC founded the Think Insurance Initiative in December 2005. Two individuals,
Mr. John Rath and
Ms. Fran Halas, provided the key leadership in launching Think Insurance. Their dedication, relationships and counsel led to the launch of this very successful program. We are grateful to them both and honor their contribution to our organization.
